Re: Parachute

Just to have my thoughts, stay high, as they say, there is nothing so useless as the sky above you! Here is a paragraph from strong parachutes: "Deployment time and distance depend on many factors including airspeed. You should plan on pulling the ripcord immediately upon clearing the aircraft,...

Stick pivot bush

Hi,
Can anyone help please.
Does anyone have a drawing of the stick pivot bush (Part No C507). There are two of them that fit into the fuselage frame just above the undercarriage bungee stop and are the stick pivot for aileron control.

Cheers

Re: SEV Fuel Pump, service or replace

An amendment to my previous message re replacement SEV fuel pump to a QFP79. Having just found out about and read AIL MOD/ENG/VW/001 and inspecting my fuel pump (QFP79) I have discovered that the pump has a plastic rocker arm  . So now I have to look for a replacement pump as well :( even th...

Re: SEV Fuel Pump, service or replace

Hi everyone, long time since I was on the forum. My Nipper had the old SEV fuel pump and I searched high and low for a spare to no avail. In the end I found a replacement pump, Quinten Hazel pump QFP79. It has 6mm push on connectors (use O clips) for the fuel with a delivery of 1.4L/min @ 18...

Re: Who has my undercarriage tool?

Hi Neil As you can tell I don't dip into the forum as often as I should, now that I have retired I don't know where the time goes. Yes, hoping to go to the rally this year, I had to drive down last year :( ( had a bit of prop trouble) but all good now with a new Hercules prop. I'm still busy with th...

Re: Who has my undercarriage tool?

Hi Neil How are you, its been an age since I came onto the forum (been busy with my other project!) and just noticed your post. I did borrow you undercarriage tool way back in 2013 when I did my bungee mod but I returned it to you when I sent you that bit of stainless tube. Just trying to jog the ol...

HELP!!! VW cylinder head wanted

Hi Everyone, Yes I'm still Nippering (well I was until a couple of weeks ago!!). Story is, spark plug seized in. This particular plug hole was already repaired with an insert (not helicoil). upshot is an unrepairable head :( . Soooo question is, does anyone have a single port 1834cc head with the ex...

Re: Help with wing rib drawing

Hi Steve Glad to be of help, if you need any more don't hesitate to call/post. Are you building the fuselage from scratch? If so might I suggest that you put in the 'tall pilot' mod which only involves moving the top cross tube (behind the seat back top) back a couple of inches and putting in a coup...

Re: Help with wing rib drawing

Hi Steve Just picked up your post, hopefully I'm not too late. Having built a wing from scratch perhaps I can help. I know that the Nipper Kits and components drawings are not the best and can lead to frustration. Ribs 1 left and right do have a spruce block next to the spar, it is there so that you...

Hi Neil

A belated happy Christmas to you et all........nice to see you are still swapping the green bit for the blue bit:).

Re: Bungee

Hi Pij

Yes you definitely need Neils' magic bungee tool. Having just gone through the same exercise it is invaluable. The shock cord ia a bit of a bugger to twist but don't forget that you need the cross over on the opposite side to the central bungee support, see attached photo.
good luck

Re: Wing bolts any problems ?

I've had by bolts checked (MPI) per LAA AIL and all are without cracks. In fact all in excellent condition. Mine were fitted when I built my Nipper 27 years ago !!!
I have the feeling as Rip does that this is a rogue bolt of maybe bad material or some sort of embrittlement when plated.
