Re: ZS-UEO rebuild

Hello all So much for the regular updates...I have been busy on the ankle biter though. December offered some spare time, so in between festivities and a wonderful trip down the coast I drew up templates & cut and glued wood. This produced a complete set of ribs aft of the spar; some needing gus...

Re: ZS-UEO rebuild

I bet you thought I'd given up - Actually, I was abducted by North Vryheid Rebels and held to ransom for an 1834cc VW & a pair of 4" wheels. If anyone can assist with this, please let me know ! They're a good bunch really, including TNOG's Glen. It's been an interesting few months, starting...

Re: ZS-UEO rebuild

Hi All... I just squeaked in by the end of June. The basic woodwork of the stab is now in place & we have a nice, new, almost complete structure. diagona1.jpg The spar was more time-consuming than expected (isn't it always!) with all the reinforcements for Hinges, bracing attach points and webbi...

Re: ZS-UEO rebuild

Hi Guys Thanks for the replies I'm looking forward to seeing the pics. (Dave - I'll mail you directly) Details on all steelwork are sketchy; thankfully there's not too much! My weekends go something like this.....fly the Whisper Saturday morning, work on her for the rest of the day in between a glid...

ZS-UEO rebuild

Hi Guys At last...distractions out of the way - there's a Nipper at my ankles! Man, it's good to work with wood again A couple of days & I'm rewarded with a set of stabiliser ribs. The pic shows my basic jig - at least my mistakes will be matched pairs! Stab ribs.jpg This month's goal is at leas...

Re: Plans needed

Hi Guys I've started fiddling, in preparation for some serious construction. However... A friend damaged his Ka-6 glider over Easter in a ground handling mishap and has asked me to repair it. It's only an aileron & fin / tailskid, so that should keep me busy for a week or 3 Hopefully I can get s...

Re: Plans needed

Hi All At last, plans have arrived ! I'm studying them intently - first impressions; extremely rugged design, fairly complex spar, with 3 sets of approx. 10 laminations per spar cap, reducing spanwise. Planer / thicknesser essential equipment, otherwise normal wood tools should do it. Within a few w...

Re: Plans needed

The image types allowable are: gif, jpeg, jpg, png, tga, tif and tiff. I would avoid 24 bit png's, tif + tiff as they tend to be huge - holding far more info than jpg's etc. and 24 bit png's have a transparent alpha channel that causes problems for Internet Explorer browsers. HUH ! Angaas! -...

Re: Plans needed

Hi Willem As much as I'd like to see your aery, I think Belgium is a bit far, but who knows, the world's not that big! I actually meant Glen in Vryheid - 320km is around the corner. UDT is the orange and purple Nipper - It used to be based in Maritzburg & I think it's beautiful. Previous rebuild...

Re: Plans needed

Hi Guys Thanks for all the responses The aircraft is indeed ZS-UEO - doesn't look too pretty right now ! It crashed into the Helderberg mountains about 1977 & has been waiting for me since then. I collected it from Stellenbosch over the New Year, & brought it up to 'Marititzburg on a trailer...

Plans needed

Hi Guys Newbie here - in South Africa! I have just acquired a wreck (more correctly, a bent fuselage) of a Nipper. I have tried contacting the UK Nipper spares agent, without success. Can anyone help out with plans for the wings & tail? Having rebuilt a Jodel, I have a basic understanding of air...
