Fuselage Fabric

Hello I'm about to recover the fuselage frame of my Nipper and I've been advised to use Stits Poly-Fiber. Does anybody have any experience of this? I can only find one supplier, Aircraft Coverings Ltd. in Somerset. Has anybody had any dealings with them? Any advice would be very welcome as this is a...

Re: Tall pilot mod . Additional fuel tanks .

Hello Roy I'm currently restoring my Mk 2 Nipper around a Jabiru Engine and I can send you a copy of the Tall Pilot Mod (11711) if you like. I can also send you a copy of Mod 12042 to fit an auxiliary tank beneath the main tank (as designed by Neil Spooner). Mod 11711 involves cutting the cross brac...

Fuselage Frame Material

Hello

Does anybody know what the fuselage frame of the Mk2 Nipper is made from? I'm sourcing materials to do the seat modification and the old mods refer to both T45 steel and 4130N.

Thanks

Re: Jabiru Engine Conversion

Hello Nigel I've had ARFV for seven years now and it's starting to look the worse for wear. The engine has had issues which I've ironed out, but I'm a bit (read very) fed up of the VW and as a second hand (zero houred) Jabiru engine came up for sale at a reasonable price I thought I'd ground the aer...

Re: Jabiru Engine Conversion

Hello Dellboy Thanks very much for that. I think I'm going to have the same work done to mine. It's more expense and the machine will be grounded longer but this seems like the time to do it. I contacted the LAA and they've virtually no information regarding the Jabiru conversion. One Mod request (M...

Re: Jabiru drawings

Hello

I'm about to fit a Jabiru engine into my Nipper, did you manage to source the drawings? If you did would it be possible to get a copy of them?

Thanks

Re: VW 1834 RPM increase with Carb Heat on

Hello Neil I contacted Chris Lodge and he's taking a look at some pictures I took of the damage. In the meantime Newton propellers have quoted me £65 do to the repairs, revarnish and balance. Do you happen to know the tightening sequence and torque settings for the prop bolts and where I might get a...

Re: VW 1834 RPM increase with Carb Heat on

Hello Neil

Thanks again, do you have any contact details for Chris Lodge? I'd rather send it to him for repair than try to bodge it myself.

cheers

Re: VW 1834 RPM increase with Carb Heat on

Thanks for all the advice from all of you who've answered my query, the engine is now running smoothly (performanceleads.co.uk, thanks David) and the oil leaks are about what you'd expect of a VW. It certainly doesn't seem to be using any oil. However this must be the most gremlin ridden aeroplane e...
