Re: MK3 nipper bits
Hi Peter, You may know this already but make sure you do a weight and balance prior to adding weight. I removed the lead from my MK3 as it was tail heavy. A previous owner had a Jabiru 85 hp engine fitted but didn't check the W&B. Also the pilot sits a little aft of the CofG So your weight also ...

Re: Wing Bolts
Hi All, I removed the old wing bolts and they were in poor condition, out of round mostly. I suspect this was caused by a previous owner who tried to dig up worms using the wing tanks. I ordered a set of replacement studs from Airweld via email and they were on my doorstep in Tasmania (Australia) fo...

Wing Bolts
Hi and greetings from Tasmania Australia. Does anyone know where I can buy 2 new wing bolts? They are 10 inches long and my aircraft parts guy says he can't get them (and they are metric????) I am not game to re-use the ones that came out as they are not in great shape. Also what torque setting do I...

Re: Wing Tanks
Hi Paul, Thanks for the reply,
The problem seems to be the gap between the fuel level indicator wire and the small tube it slides up and down in, that's where the fuel sprays out from.
The floats seem okay.

Wing Tanks
My Nipper has wing tanks which spill a lot of fuel out of the wire and cork fuel level gauge/breather ports. The fuel system operates on both wing tanks together or the main tank. If the plane is parked off level, fuel runs from one tip tank and overflows out the other. When its flying fuel gushes o...

Re: First flight Nipper Sydney Oz
Thanks Kate, You can see 2 photos in the Gallery Reg 28 842 with my dog 'Biscuit'. So I went to Sydney for a week to fly the Nipper and now I am back home in Tasmania and in Quarantine for 2 weeks but it was worth it. Can't wait to plan the next visit to Sydney to fly again. Good luck with your long...

Re: First flight Nipper Sydney Oz
Thanks Kate, Great photo, I bet everyone who sees your lovely plane smile also. I tried to attach an image but was unable to; probably admin blocked undesirable Unidentified Flying Oztralians UFOs ha. I plan to fly the Nipper from Sydney over the ocean (Bass Strait) to Tasmania where I live, a fairl...

First flight Nipper Sydney Oz
Well I finally got to fly the little bird and wow I'm still smiling. After lots of checks a weight and balance and several taxis I entered runway 35 at Wedderburn near Sydney opened up the 85 HP engine and off we went like a red rocket. On turning downwind a massive vibration started and then stoppe...

Re: OWNERS 'TESTIMONIALS' - WHAT ARE THEY LIKE TO OWN & FLY
Hi Ross, There is a mandatory inspection of the wing bolts under the LAA permit scheme in the UK. The bolts must be pulled and checked for cracks. If serviceable they can be refitted, otherwise new bolts are required. They aren't readily obtainable so an alternative is to use studs that used to be ...

Re: OWNERS 'TESTIMONIALS' - WHAT ARE THEY LIKE TO OWN & FLY
Thanks Guys that's great info, I'll give the existing brakes a go for a while. Kate I love the paint job on your plane and when my Nipper wears out it's paint I would really like to paint it with the bee in mind, MAYBEE we could start a swarm ha. Jim I am interested to see how you go with the hubs, ...

Thanks for that Neil.
The brakes on my nipper are cable brakes and don't look too good hard to adjust, what is the alternative, and is there a kit or do you just fit hydraulics; interested to know more on this.
Cheers Ross

Hi all, My name is Ross from Tasmania. I am looking forward to flying my Nipper for the first time. I fitted a new Jab 80 hp engine.... then Covid struck. The Nipper is in Sydney Australia and I live in Tasmania Australia, so no travel allowed. I only need to do the weight and balance, then fly. I h...
