Re: G-CORD Rebuild

For me it is the Leburg mod, if you can get a kit. No more kickbacks when handswinging, smooth running, benefit of a generator fitted, and reliable first swing starting once you learn how she likes to be primed. Generally fit and forget.. whats not to like? Tip tanks are very useful, other supplemen...

Re: Damaged plug thread!

Thanks as always, Neil.
Bugger, I have been using copper lube for my plugs all the time. Won't anymore.
I will look at my options and sort it one way or the other..
Will report back soon,

Paul.

Damaged plug thread!

Hi Guys, Was doing a 'service' on NIPR yesterday, and found all of the plugs harder to remove than normal. I have left it longer than usual due to protracted down time this year, and they were tight. All bar one came out ok, but number seven of the eight proved tricky. It seemed to come out ok, but ...

Re: Happy Christmas

Thanks Stuart. All the best to you. I am hoping to increase my Nippering next year, flew a very small amount in 2012 for various reasons. Changes at work mean the first three months of the year will taken up with training, but I hope to make for it after that. I have provisionally booked time off fo...

Re: LAA Rally 2012 - Trip Report.

I arrived at Eshott after a relatively short 1 hour and 15 min flight. I was pleased to see the other strut members were there with the Piper Cub and Wagabond. That means fuel was still available. Didn't stop long this time, just enough to fuel up, pay up and leave. Still around two and a half hours...

Re: LAA Rally 2012 - Trip Report.

Sunday morning arrived, and I woke early to nip off for a quick shower ahead of the crowds. The weather looked ok'ish, but a check of the TAF's meant an early departure would be preferred. I had planned to go to see Paul Grellier at his Winchester airstrip, but despite getting to within 12 mins of i...

Re: LAA Rally 2012 - Trip Report.

Well it was a good weekend. I met Willem, who in my minds eye was still a small boy sat in the cockpit in the picture I had seen of him. Not anymore, a fully grown man and useful to any Belgian Rugby squad. Nice to meet you Willem! I caught up with Stuart and Neil. Always a pleasure. Good craic and ...

Re: LAA Rally 2012 - Trip Report.

After fuelling with the super duper self service machine that makes Sywell such an easy airfield, I taxied to my parking spot so kindly reserved by the kilted warriors. Tent up, Nipper re-polished, and time for food and drink! IMG_4594_800x600.jpg IMG_4607_800x600.jpg Over priced burger and bottle o...

Re: LAA Rally 2012 - Trip Report.

I had booked a 'slot' of 1425 local for NIPR and was hopeful of making it. The guys at Sywell had told me there was a prize if you did so. Although it looked do'able the GPS said otherwise once I was airborne. Again the winds had been higher than expected when I loaded the flight plan up in SkyDemon...

Re: LAA Rally 2012 - Trip Report.

Enroute to Eshott. NIPR and I took off just after 0830 local into the cool clear Highland skies. ATC were surprised to see such an early start for VFR traffic, ahead even of the local flying school. I had planned to climb to 3500 to get a good clearance above most of the local lumps, and give me a f...

LAA Rally 2012 - Trip Report.

Well it really was an eleventh hour decision to go to the rally this year. I had originally booked the time off work, then various issues with the new tip tanks meant that it was looking unlikely I would be able to go. Buoyed up by the other local strut members prepping their aircraft and polishing ...

Rally 2012

Hello All, After a period of protracted maintenance and modification on NIPR, I am pleased to say she is now fully serviceable with working tip tanks. To celebrate I am hoping to do my traditional long flight to the rally again this year. I will be leaving on Friday morning, weather permitting and h...

Re: IS THIS BOARD DEAD ? ?

Things tend to slacken off a little over the winter months, but hopefully they are all still out there.
My aircraft will be ready for me to fly 500 miles north in a few weeks. I will post pics and details in due course.
Come on guys where are you!?

Paul.

Re: VW 1834 RPM increase with Carb Heat on

Sounds to me like its running too lean, and therefore application of carb heat is enriching it closer to the correct mixture. The carb heat will introduce hotter air which is less dense, normally causing a drop in RPM through richer running. Because you are starting off from a position of running to...

Still here!

Hello All, I am aware that I have not been very active on the forum for many months. I am still here and still as passionate about our little aircraft as ever was. NIPR is currently getting some modding by the clever man called Paul Grellier near Winchester and hasn't been flown since September. I a...
