Re: Seat mod
Hi Guys, There is a Nipper in Belgium (OO-LEO I think) that has both top and bottom seat mounts moved back.........here is a photo of it: I am 6ft with long legs, and with the lengthened rudder pedals have no problem with only the top seat mount moved back. (mine is a mk 3b please note......turtle d...

Re: Exhaust Pipes
Hi Stuart, I am based at a noise sensitive site, so had to do something to reduce the exhaust noise. This works very well. It is mild steel which was nickle plated (£100!), so was hopefull that it would last forever, unfortunately the temperatures are such that the plating has failed already on the ...

Nikasil Cylinders
Hi All, I am building a spare engine for G-ONCS, and am using a Great Plains engine I imported. I am going to fit the Nikasil cylinders, but on very close inspection have found they are not Nikasil at all.......they are steel lined. It is not a problem, and still make the cylinders about 10lbs light...

Re: Keeping Warm!!!!!!
Hi Pat, Thanks for that, but I am not so well endowed!! I need both my heat exchangers to get my +30deg temp' rise and do not have the physical room to go introducing others. The flap on the side panel should catch a fair bit of hot air off of the Cyl' heads, is not intrusive to the firewall, and ho...

Keeping Warm!!!!!!
Hi All, I have been thinking for some time as to how to keep warm in the Nipper in winter...............The easiest solution I have come up with is to have an opening vent behind the cylinder heads in the alloy removable panel just behind the firewall. It could be ground adjustable because you would...

Re: Tipsy Nipper Wanted - Any condition
Hi, Converting a VW to inverted should be possible without splitting the case. A new sump would have to be fabricated to take the oil feed outside the engine. I don't see a problem. All the other bits are external, and are just a case of modifying and bolting on. You would have to find an Ellison TB...

Hi Stuart,
JP exhausts look very good, and would be interested to hear how much they charge. A friend and local inspector who is also a CAA approved welder is local to me, he does a very good and economical job. His website is: www.richardkimberleyservices.co.uk

Re: G-BLMW
Hi Stuart, Great to have you "on board". I also run an Ellison, which I have just had overhauled, and is yet to fly again due to other repairs. I am interested to see a picture of your inlet manifold, as I suffer with uneven mixture problems, the stb cyl's run richer. I have a few ideas fo...

Re: Restoration of ZS-UAD, Tipsy Nipper T66 mk 1
Hi Glen, What material are your Pitot/Static tubes made from? Mine were copper and very heavy, I replaced them with nylon which were much lighter. By using a hot air gun I could keep the "loop" of tube above the pitot head. Bert Kupyers introduced proper rod ends to his aileron push-pull r...

Re: Restoration of ZS-UAD, Tipsy Nipper T66 mk 1
Hi Glen, It's looking great.......sorry to hear about the injury, be sure that if you are going to knock anything now it will be your thumb!! A little tip.........a hardened flat piece of steel about 3 inches by 5 inches with the edges ground square is very usefull as a form of scraper. A piece of 4...
