That's one of the advantages with Oratex - significant weight reduction and no post covering finishing required.

Re: Fuselage Fabric
If I were considering recovering my Nipper I think Polyfiber would be the process of choice. It is well proven and the materials seem more pleasant to use than the Ceconite process. I've not used Polyfiber but I have done several Ceconite covers, the only problem I have is that I now have a stock of...

VW engine mounts
Hi All, It is clear that the engine mounts on my aircraft aren't original Slingsby manufacture, they look as if they came with the Rollason Ardem which was originally flown on a Taylor Monoplane. Can anybody tell me the measurement from the engine mounting flange (not the gearbox locating ring) to t...

Brize and Oxford airspace grab
Just a reminder that it is getting to the last minute to submit an objection to the airspace applications by Oxford and Brize. A shortlist of information if you haven't seen it already: http://www.lightaircraftassociation.co.uk/2018/News/brize_norton.pdf https://www.ftnonline.co.uk/2018/03/19/courti...

Re: Nipper trailer
That's the photo I saw many moons ago. It looks like the cover price of the mag has crept up a bit since then!
As it happens possible hangar space problems may force the re-incarnation of the Nipper Tipper to keep the floor area down.
Here's looking forward to 2018
Best Wishes

Re: Nosewheel , tyre , inner tube wanted .
My mk3, and the mk3 drawings, uses a 400 x 4 tyre and associated tube. This is a common size and aircraft tyres are readily available from the usual aircraft suppliers. TOST are the gold standard, and correspondingly expensive. I think the 'double rib' nosewheel tyre shown on the drawings is obsolet...

Re: LeBurg ignition installation
Hi Neil, Thanks for the information. I initially assumed that the Leburg drawings would just be a copy of the VW flywheel groove and O-ring but became confused when it came to cut the groove. Two things still confuse me! The O-ring inside diameter is given as 56.5mm which cannot be correct as that m...

Re: LeBurg ignition installation
Hi, and a happy New Year to Nipper forumites Can anybody tell me how they fitted the crankshaft O-ring seal in the Leburg crankshaft adapter? I've got this part on the lathe and cannot reconcile various dimensions given on the drawing which is supplied with the Leburg kit from Skycraft. The quoted O...

Re: LeBurg ignition installation
Hi Neil, Thanks for your post and apologies for the tardy reply but I have been smitten by the Christmas lurgy which hits in the week before Christmas when I still haven't been out to get presents or to post any cards! I am well into making the crankshaft adapters. I'm making a batch of three; one f...

Re: LeBurg ignition installation
Hi all, I've had a bit of a merry dance with this Leburg installation so I thought I'd post an update to the forum. My intention is to write up the whole scheme for the LAA mag when it is finally an approved mod. I think that would be a good method of disseminating the information for use by anybody...

Re: Large Pilot
Hi Monty, I have a Mk 3 Nipper with the extended rudder pedals and, as I'm quite small at 5ft 5in, I cannot reach them and will have to return them to standard! I believe you should have no size problems with the seat back and rudder pedal mods incorporated. Best bet would be to find one and sit in ...

Re: LeBurg ignition installation
Hello Peter, Thanks for the reference to the LAA forum discussion, it was a useful read. I think the only significant problem will be to persuade LAA engineering to allow the 'no generator' installation, and I hope I can do that with a reasoned argument on the safety case. Indeed my safety case may ...
