Re: Restoration of ZS-UAD, Tipsy Nipper T66 mk 1

Hi Glen, Love the workshop, wx looks good too! Good luck with the project, from your workshop and car it looks like you have the right attitude and we look forward to seeing another first class Nipper take to the air. My only comment (and I am sure it is not needed) is to make sure the paint strippe...

Re: Nipper Insurance.

Nice one Paul, my renewal is coming up, so will give them a look. As a point of note my insurance was for a hull value of £14,500 with a premium of £690. However, they were excellent with my recent claim and were prompt with assessment and payment for a considerable sum.

Re: LEBURG Ignition system - Important

Hi Glen, In the absence of Pauls reply...... Have a look at the Leburg website ( http://www.leburg.freeserve.co.uk/ ), it tells you pretty much all you need to know. I have the system on my Nipper, and have only good to say about it and am quite suprised that it is being discontinued. It is easy to ...

Re: Nipper Exhaust systems,

Hi David, Herewith some photos of my exhaust system, it really takes the sting out of the VW exhaust note. It was fabricated almost entirely from VW "J" tubes available from just about any exhaust center or German and Swedish. It has tubes with fins inside for the carb heat. The silencers ...

Re: G-NIPR nearly done!

Good luck with the test flying Paul, just remember, if you need to pick an outfield landing area, if you can see it over the nose you probably wont glide to it! (Nipper glide ratio=oven ready turkey) It really is an exciting time :D :D  Progress on mine has been slowed due to insurance and ho...

Re: Aux fuel tank

Hi Glen, I hope to get the plans off today, but as I have just trapped a nerve in my back I will see how I get on. I have not got far with the Great Plains (GPAS) engine...........the machining on the case for clearancing is ok, though to my mind needing alot of finishing to remove potential crackin...

Re: Great plains engine

Hi Guys,

I have just brought back a G'Plains 2180cc engine, but will be using Nicasil cylinders. Unfortunately I can see no means of using an electric starter due to the weight and space constraints.

Re: Aux fuel tank

Hi Guys, I have just been on the phone to Andy Draper at the PFA to chase the Mod request which he has had since March this year, and have politely suggested to him he has had it long enough! Also that there are now three other Nipper owners who would like to use this mod (Len Johnston is also inter...

Re: Aux fuel tank

Hi Guys, The plans are definately not email size!! But it is not a problem for my wife to copy A3 stuff, so I can copy the plans and send them to you if you let me have your postal address. The fuel tank sits under the original main tank, and really doesn't affect the C of G. The safest way of using...

Re: G-ONCS crash in Essex

Hi Guys, Thanks for your kind words. A rather disturbing occurance, normal spin entry and the spin went flat. Having never done any flat spin training was rather at a loss as to what to do to recover (normal spin recovery techniques don't work in a flat spin). However, a quick review of spin aerodyn...
