Silencing the Nipper exhaust system
All, I am concerned that my Nipper IIIb G-AXLI is very noisy and could eventually become the source for complaints from neighbours. The system is of the type that points vertically down from the engine ports. Earlier Nipper exhausts faced fully aft exiting at the rear of the cowlings. Is the earlier...

Re: Wing Ribs
Ben, Firstly, don't trash it (or any parts of it)! I've been re-building a MKII for the past six years between other priorities and have many pictures covering the progress which may help you. Only the cowlings and engine mods need finishing to see 'RBG finally complete. Any good BGA inspector will ...

suspension rubbers
Robert, I believe the rubbers sold by NK&C Ltd are modified trailer suspension units. I have made enquiries for the cost of producing new rubbers to the original Neiman rings specification and have found a company who have quoted a price of around £150 per set. Minimum order 10 sets. The alterna...

Re: New old Nipper
JH,
The plans you require are the Kit Assembly Plans numbered 01 - 012. These will give you all the detail you need to complete the aeroplane.
The 'tabs' should have three holes in each pre-drilled to accept 4BA captive nuts.

Gary,
Is your mag fully boxed in as shown using the MKII firewall mag cover? Picture also shows screening of 'P' leads as per Neils recommendation above.

Re: GAVTC - new owner, new home, new questions
Jim, I'm forever de-rigging mine and find it easier after removing the canopy to unlock and release aileron cables outboard at the bellcrank leaving balance cable in place. You will need to release the turnbuckles when replacing the wing and re-doing the control deflections anyway. Cables should wit...

Re: What engine oil? SAUER engine
Gary, Further to my earlier, quote from the Nipper MKIII owners handbook 1967 - " Oil - viscosity W80, Type Aeroshell, Capacity (3 ltrs)" Ardem Maintenance and Overhaul Manual also specifies W80 (although it has amended capacity to 4pints -2.33 ltrs) I wonder if aviation approved oil was a...

Re: Restoration of ZS-UAD, Tipsy Nipper T66 mk 1
Glen, The firewall looks good but don't you need a 10deg change in angle at the top for the tank to slide under? Regarding u/c rubbers, I have seen a modification listed to extend the width of the bobbins about 20mm and use bungees. It has been done before and drawing or dimensions exist but I don't...

Re: Fitting a radio
In reply, The method I desribed was an expedient to enable me to maintain contact with my nearest airport (Bristol) during local flights. It works very well and I can transmit and receive '5s' in practice up to 25miles. The system solved the problem of engine ignition interference encountered with t...
