Re: VW 1834 RPM increase with Carb Heat on

Thanks for the advice, its turned out to be a combination of things: 1. A dirty needle valve resulted in me stripping down and cleaning the carburettor in an ultrasonic bath. 2. A major oil leak from the base of one of the cylinders resulted in me taking the heads off (again!). 3. A malfunctioning r...

VW 1834 RPM increase with Carb Heat on

Hello I have a Tipsy Nipper with a VW1834 engine and Zenith Stromberg CD150 carburettor. I've been having some problems with the engine lately as follows: 1. Sudden application of throttle causes rough running and power loss (didn't used to). 2. Engine rpm (any setting) increases with application of...

Re: VW Jabiru Aervee engine weights

Hello Richard

I just came across your post while trying to find some information about the Aerovee myself. Did you ever get an answer from the importers?

Thanks

Hello Neil

Sounds like a great idea, Old Warden or Duxford would be good, or how about Elvington if you fancy heading north?

Cheers

Re: Inverted fuel

Hello Neil Did you fit the Rotec TBI? Any good? I'm planning to replace the Stromberg Carb on my m/c at some point and I was thinking about the Aeroconversions Aeroinjector (http://www.aeroconversions.com/products/aerocarb/index.html) which they claim doesn't need carb heat. However, if the TBI is a...

Hello Jantar

I'll scan the stuff and email it to you. Its a bit of a mess though, all hand written and not very organised.

Re: Clevis Pins

Hello Neil I had a chat with Alan of NK&C today, he's done a great job and he's posting my undercarriage rings on monday (still waiting for the first of the fuselage frames to come off the line though). I saw somewhere on the forum that you'd made a tool for changing the rings. Would you mind gi...

Re: Clevis Pins

Hello Neil I haven't ordered from B&T yet but when I do I'll let you know, you can download the catalogue from their site for sizes etc. The only problem I can forsee with them is that they might not do the correct length in imperial (I haven't measured the pins on mine yet, 50 mile trip to the ...

Re: Clevis Pins

Thanks Neil I've sourced clevis pins at Boneham & Turner who seem to stock plenty of sizes and material specs. I'm regarding reaming out the holes as a short term solution, in the long term I plan to replace the hinge-bolts with oversize ones and to use replaceable bushes. However as this involv...

Clevis Pins

My Nipper (G-ARFV) has just been through its permit (failed on undercarriage rings) and has had an 'advisery' to ream/drill out the control surface hinges and replace the 3/16" dia clevis pins with 5mm dia pins. Does anybody know where I might source some 5mm pins of an equivalent material to t...

Re: Inverted Fuel and Oil

Hello Neil Thanks for getting in touch and for the pics, I live in County Durham and the Nipper's based at Bagby. I've been away for a few weeks and haven't had chance to fly G-ARFV yet and it looks as if the weather's closing in now. I tried to start it yesterday and couldn't get it going so I took...

Inverted Fuel and Oil

I've just bought G-ARFV which is fitted with a VW1834 engine with no inverted fuel or oil system. Can anybody advise me how I might modify the engine to allow it to run for a short time inverted, just long enough to get me out of trouble and avoid damaging the engine should I inadvertently pull nega...

Nipper Fuselage Frame

Hello Does anybody know where I might obtain a fuselage frame or the drawings to make one? I've purchased a set of plans from NK&C and would like to build a Nipper Mk3 but the fuselage frame isn't included in the drawing pack (I believe the frames were factory (jig) built and supplied as a part)...
