Dundee to Melksham
Hi Folks
I am going to fly G-AVXD from Scotland down the West Coast to Melksham on the week commencing 14 July 08 returning later as required via the East Coast.
This is to raise support for Cancer Luekaemia In Children and CLIC Sargent which is their charity.
I have asked Alan Twigg of LAA fame to assist in handling whilst down there, hopefully at Keevil?
Anyone who would like to join up with me either on the way down or return
for photo's of Nippers in Flight are most welcome.

Hi Jab,
Good luck and good weather wishes are coming your way, unfortunately I am working, so am unable to support, but my thoughts are with you. If you are in the Colchester area on the way back and need any support please let me know.

Thank you Neil for your kind offer.
I am not sure of my return track as the weather may have some say.
Raised £1100 so far for the CLIC Sergant charity from generous friends and a local pub auction.

Hi John,
If you need help during your stay at Melksham, I know Keevil well but operate G-AXLI out of Franklyns (Wells). Other airfields close by are Wing Farm (contact Tim Dews, Airborne Composites) or Compton Abbas.
Pleased to help if I can,
David G-ARBG

Hi fellow Nippers
I have just returned from my charity flight, many thanks to those that offered help, if needed. Whilst the weather prevented me from visiting the south east coast and a couple of other nippering places I managed the trip without too many hitches.
Here is a short account of my flight:
13 July 08 - 10:00 Dundee to Carlisle- refuel
13:00 Carlisle to Blackpool - refuel
15:00 Backpool to Glouchester - refuel
18:00 Glouchester to Oaksey Park 18:30 - refuel and hangar. Car to Melksham - Fairford RIAT NOTAM's prevented any further flight .
14 July 08 - Presented cheque £1375:00 to CLIC Sargent.
15 July 08 - 11:30 Oaksey Park via Glouchester to Sibson - refuel
13:50 Sibson to Eddsfield 15:30 - refuel and hangar. wind gusts to 35 kts
17 July 08 - 10:00 Eddsfield to Eshott - refuel
13:00 Eshott to Dundee 14:30 - refuel and hangar.
Total flight distance 720 nm
Fuel used 35 gallons
Total Time flown 11hrs 20 mins
Oil used -nil
Batteries used- x2 icom rechargable 18 x alkaline. no electric's
I planned each leg to last no longer than two hours- refuel and comfort break.
Great trip, G-AVXD handled great and did not miss a beat.
Lessons learned:
Do not drink tea/coffee before setting off!
Take plenty of batteries,
Fold your maps carefully, Then again!
Ensure when booking PPR they understand what a Nipper is and it's requirements.
cheers
JAB

Well done John!
Sounds like hard work, but a great experience. Sorry I didn't get to meet up, would have been great to get some air to air shots for publicity.
If you would like the donation please let me know how to do it......I use paypal if that helps.
All the best,
Neil

Thanks Neil
The easiest way to donate is by logging on to Baracelona Bangers. It is a rally that my son in law is taking part in at this moment.
Their name is "Team T" and he is raising money for CLIC Sargent which will be added to my donated cheque. [see donations]
I will not make your intended fly in due to other commitments, but wish you all well.
Thanks once again for the offer of support
John
