mystery magneto

Hi all,

In a box of goodies which came with some VW engines I received recently came this dual mag.
Anybody know anything about it, what it was used for etc? It's probably not much good for a Nipper as it would stick through the firewall quite a bit.

The dual Bendix magneto was a unit used on the Nippers, you will find a few Nippers with a box on the firewall that projects below the fuel tank which accommodated it........I have not seen one of these Ducelier magnetos before, but they will do the same job. Much better than the dual chain driven Lucas magnetos, but very, very heavy.
