The Bee, complete with smiley face at Cranfield in 1998 and without, at Sywell in 2019. I will have owned ‘JE for 22 years on 5 March.

Is there a reason for the exhaust extended below and behind the leading edge? Perhaps to avoid any chance of fumes in the cockpit?

Yes, that’s the reason. I’ve never changed the exhaust configuration and have never encountered any issues. If it ain’t broke etc etc!
