New owner of G-NIPS

Postby Steamie1 » Tue Sep 24, 2019 9:56 pm

Hi! gang,

I have purchased G-NIPS and look forward to flying it more down in Cornwall.

Like to get in contact with David Shrimpton as I think he is the closest with a nipper, be good to fly up and see David and Margret.

I've only done the ferry flight, so more to come later.

All the best,

Lloyd

Hi All,

1970...…..
(yes in the last Century) I worked, as a 16 year old spotty youth at Elstree for the" Airtouring" shop owned by
one Robert (Bob) Pooley.
At that time Bob was the owner of 2 Nippers. G-AVKH from memory was one of them. I used to push them around the hangar and display them outside the shop on a Saturday. They never failed to get attention-I was totally enamoured by this diminutive marvel and vowed one day to own and fly one myself.
So,after waiting only 49 years, I have just purchase G-NIPS.from Mr. Lloyd Edwards. A lovely friendly and helpful seller.
surely Lloyd is the record holder for the shortest ownership in Nipper history less than 3 months I gather!
I hope to attend Rallys ,Fly-ins, Farm strips, etc. and meet many of you as the season unfolds.

Regards,
Mark G

Thank you Neil for the welcome message.
I'm currently operating out of North Weald. I note your not too far away from me.
I look forward to meeting up with you at some point.
I've only managed to get airborne once since purchasing G-Nips...The Grin is developing slowly!!
I am sure once the rudder pedals are sorted I will be far happier.

Regards,
Mark

If it’s the extended rudder pedals you are doing you can copy my mod if you like.

Thank you Neil - very Kind of You...
I have spoken to Paul Grellier about doing this job for me.
I imagine that he is familiar with your mod. Or is there a significant difference?
My knees are wedged up under the spar preventing full deflection!

I'm 6ft. in ( old money) -plenty of headroom but its just those pedals.

Kind Regards,
Mark G

I don’t know if Paul has done this mod or not.
If you want to send me your pedals I can get them done for you. I have a friend who is an approved welder. Not sure of £‘s, but won’t be much.
The pedals are very easy to remove/refit. You will need to get a duplicate inspection upon refitting (you can be one inspection) for disturbed controls, your inspector will need to sign off the log books.
Is the Nipper at N Weald?
Have you applied for the mod yet?
Just a thought....have you looked at adjusting the length of the rudder cables? It may give you the leg room you need without doing a “mod”. You need to ensure full & free rudder operation.
