Postby CAT » Sun Dec 22, 2013 8:58 pm

Hi everybody
Five or more years ago I have done a offer for new canopy ?
(I have a mould for MK III B) I have send the mould to Mecaplex,
I have pay some money and forget time for this poor solution..
Nobody have make a order....it was to expensive. But today
by Mecaplex the price his higher....
Our unique solution : with a old canopy, to make a mould.
You can see my Nipper on internet : HB-SPQ

Je vous souhaite un bon Noël et que vous trouviez une solution
à votre problème de CANOPY

Amicalement Charles

Hello Charles,

Thank you for the information, Neil Spooner also mentioned approaching Mecaplex to produce new canopies some years ago. Paul at Airweld (www airweld.co.uk) also has a mould for a Mk3b canopy here in the UK and is about to try and produce new canopies. He is trying to find a way of making new canopies for about € 1000.
I have a Mk3 that I am rebuilding therefore I am searching for a Mk 3 canopy mould?

Joyeux Noël , Peter

Charles and I knocked this issue around for ages. If Airweld are going to charge E1000 I am sorry but I really think Mecaplex will produce a more refined example (they have been doing it for ever, rather than new heads doing it for the first time, with all the encumbant problems) for similar money. Why waste all the time and head-ache re-inventing the wheel?

Sorry, I don't mean to tread on any toes!!

Hippo New Year to all.

Neil

Hi Neil, the problem is that I am not sure we are still talking about 'similar money' for a Mecaplex version? I have heard a current estimate of around €2000 / £1800 at today's prices for a limited production run, although I cannot substantiate that at present.

Trust Santa was good to you?!!

All the best, Peter

Hi Peter,
That is a very large jump from the £680 I negotiated about 4 years ago, is this a rumour, or has someone actually done the footwork?
I am not trying to stir anything up, just offering some info'. I don't need a canopy, and hope that remains the case!!

All the very best,
