I have recently purchased a Zulu ANR Headset for use with my ICOM A6E in XD.
The noise reduction and comfort are excellent, however I have been experiencing a problem with transmittions once the active is switched on.
In that to make it work I have to repeatedly turn off/on the headset and radio.
This can sometimes be as much as 10 on/off selections.
[I have borrowed another Zulu but have the same results]
I am in correspondence with Lightspeed, who have acknowledged, and am awaiting their comments.
Is anyone else experiencing problems with ICOM Radios and Zulu or other ANR Headsets.

Re: ICOM A6E vis Lightspeed ZULU ANR Headset
Hi John,
I havent experienced the problems you had in quite the same way, but might have some info for you.
I have tried a PILOT ANR headset and found that comfort was great but noise attenuation no better than by existing Non-ANR with large ear cups. The PILOT headset was designed for Biz Jet pilot so it was no surprise that it wasnt the best for this job.
I also have BOSE X that I use for work, but as I leave my headset in the Nipper I wasnt prepared to leave a seven hundred quid unit unattended! Might try it one day though...
The problem you are having does sound a little similar to a problem I had in the early days with my Nipper. When I bought it the previous owner had an old style ICOM fitted, he removed that when I bought it. But he left some sort of interface, a small box with 2 small rheostats for adjusting gain. The headset jacks plugged into this. This interface did not work at all well with my ICOM (the newer version) and caused a similar issue to what you describe.
I removed the interface altogether and now use the ICOM headset adapter to connect between headset and ICOM. Now all is well and strength 5 whenver I ask.
Check to see what is between your headset jack and the ICOM, might be a rogue interface in their somewhere...
Good luck.
Paul.

Re: ICOM A6E vis Lightspeed ZULU ANR Headset
Thanks Paul.
My ICOM is a new one with no interface just the standard jack adaptors.
Lightspeed have just responded with a couple of ideas so will try them out shortly.
I flew XD yesterday around the snow covered tops. It was one of those trips that you have to pinch yourself. who needs drugs!
Pleased to hear that all is well with another years permit.

John,
We must catch up before long. If we get a decent forecast in the coming weeks and I am off, I will give you a call to meet up. Probably down your way...
