Hi All,
Can anyone throw some light on what is involved with the seat mod, iro, the seat moves back plus/minus 7cm. Just the back rest move and/or the bottom piece as well?
I'm 1,82 tall and would appreciate a little more room!!
Regards
Glen

Re: Seat mod
Hi Glen, (again!)
I have just posted a reply to your other post, so wont say much here, except I will post some pictures on the seat mod' soon. I cant do it now as my laptop has died and I am in the process of backing up and restoring. Once I have done that I will post some pictures for you. Have a look at www.richardkimberleyservices.co.uk for some info' on the aircraft I have been involved in for some more paint info'.
If the PFA won't help you with the seat mod' info' let me know and I will post copies to you. Paul has just used the plans I provided for a Rudder/Fin mod' through the PFA, so they are obviously releasing them.
Good luck,
Neil

Re: Seat mod
Hi Glen againagain,
Just been reviewing some past posts, and forgot I have already posted a photo of the seat mod', check out viewtopic.php?f=13&t=21
I only moved the top seat mount back, there have been some mod's that moved both top and bottom, but I found that just the top was enough. For extra leg room it is possible to mod' the rudder pedals.....do you have any lead in the tail?
Neil

I haven't done a rudder/fin mod, still on the all flying rudder....
Maybe there's another Paul.

Re: Seat mod
Glen,
Many pilots your size fly the Nipper without the seat mod. However it looks well thought out and if your machine is stripped down you may feel it is worth the effort. Early Nippers however overcame the problem by modifying the rudder pedals which is worth considering as a first step.
If you decide to modify the pedals, do it to the approved Slingsby drawing and not as shown in the attached photo which simply restricted the rudder movement!

Re: Seat mod
Hi David,
I have made my own mod many years ago which gave my legs a little more room, i now go home with my knee caps in tact
. I have full swing on the rudder so maybe my mod is ok.
Would like to see the Slingsby mod if possible.
Neil, thanks for the reply,
I have seen you pic of the seat mod and as i'm stripping the fuse down to DNA level, i would like to incorparate this mod.
Please Neil, can i take you up on your offer for the mod drawings as we do not have a PFA here. While i have you on line, i sent a PM thanking you from the tank drawings, not sure if you got the PM. One question, what gauge aluminum will i have to use for the tank?
I have no lead in the tail, the CofG was perfect the last time we weighed UAD
Sorry i have not replied to posts, we are having the most violent thunder storms one after the other, with huge amount of lightning. I just start typing and have to give up and pull all the plugs out of the wall, luckly tonight is calm for once!!
This monster rushed in at 2-300ft with swirling blackness and this was only at 18;00, normally still light here

Re: Seat mod
Hi Glen,
No problem, please remind me of your address to save me searching for it.
I will send you the seat mod' drawings.
I am somewhat closer to approval for the fuel tank, just need to send the PFA some data and I think we will be done, will also let you know what the alloy guage is.
I would be interested to see your rudder mod' pictures.

Re: Seat mod
Are there PFA approved mods and drawings to move both the top and bottom of the seat rearwards?

Re: Seat mod
Hi Guys,
There is a Nipper in Belgium (OO-LEO I think) that has both top and bottom seat mounts moved back.........here is a photo of it:
I am 6ft with long legs, and with the lengthened rudder pedals have no problem with only the top seat mount moved back. (mine is a mk 3b please note......turtle deck is raked back) Please note that if you move the top seat back you need to move the elevator belcrank pivot back too so that you get full movement of the elevator linkage. (it will foul the back of the seat)
