Hi Guys
Newbie here - in South Africa!
I have just acquired a wreck (more correctly, a bent fuselage) of a Nipper.
I have tried contacting the UK Nipper spares agent, without success.
Can anyone help out with plans for the wings & tail?
Having rebuilt a Jodel, I have a basic understanding of aircraft woodworking techniques.
Any assistance would be hugely appreciated
Regards
Dave Taylor

Re: Plans needed
Hi Dave,
Glad to see someone else from SA on this form
Have you any info about you fuse ie registration, serial number etc, very interested to know.
My Nipper is stripped to the bone at this moment, so if you need any info i'm sure i can help, even if it is a nice close up photo.
Look under SALE section, a chap is selling plans for MK1/2 and MK3 NIppers.
If i may ask, where are you in SA?

Hi Dave,
Is it ZS-UEO that you bought? The one shown in the picture?
Welcome

Re: Plans needed
Hi Guys
Thanks for all the responses
The aircraft is indeed ZS-UEO - doesn't look too pretty right now !
It crashed into the Helderberg mountains about 1977 & has been waiting for me since then.
I collected it from Stellenbosch over the New Year, & brought it up to 'Marititzburg on a trailer
David has been tremendously helpful in arranging a set of plans, which should be in the post quite soon.
Fantastic to see another member from RSA - Willem, I'd like to see your arey sometime
Cheers
Dave

Re: Plans needed
Hi Willem
As much as I'd like to see your aery, I think Belgium is a bit far, but who knows, the world's not that big! I actually meant Glen in Vryheid - 320km is around the corner.
UDT is the orange and purple Nipper - It used to be based in Maritzburg & I think it's beautiful.
Previous rebuild projects include a Jodel D-12, Ka-7 & Ka-13 glider & I've just finished a SA designed motor glider, the Whisper (I built it in exchange for a share - works for me, but nearly 3 years work !) - we're doing the proving flights now. http://www.whisperaircraft.com
Sorry
I'm trying to load a pic of the Ka-7 & Tipsy ZS-UDT, but can't seem to get it right - maybe it'll come through, but doesn't seem to preview - I think the problem is they're not jpg format

Hi Dave,
UDT was indead the purple and orange one. But it is also on rebuilt now. It will be finished in a red with white scheme.
If you send the photos to my email (willemronge@scarlet.be) I'll upload them to the forum for you.

FYI: There is a size limit of 256 KB per image/file and a maximum number of images per post set to 5.
The image types allowable are: gif, jpeg, jpg, png, tga, tif and tiff. I would avoid 24 bit png's, tif + tiff as they tend to be huge - holding far more info than jpg's etc. and 24 bit png's have a transparent alpha channel that causes problems for Internet Explorer browsers.

HUH !
Angaas! - SA colloquialism for "I know nothing" - draw out the "aaa" for more effect
Seriously, I'll try plain ol' jpg in future, but thanks for the info

Re: Plans needed
The KA.7 looks quite nice.
I fly the KA.8 (we have 3 in our club).
Honestly, I would never paint my Nipper like that

Re: Plans needed
Hi All
At last, plans have arrived !
I'm studying them intently - first impressions; extremely rugged design, fairly complex spar, with 3 sets of approx. 10 laminations per spar cap, reducing spanwise.
Planer / thicknesser essential equipment, otherwise normal wood tools should do it.
Within a few weeks I should have sourced suitable wood (Douglas Fir, known here as Oregon Pine)and I have 1.5mm Birch Ply. Construction can then begin.
If anyone's interested, I'll start a new thread & give progress updates !?!
Cheers

Re: Plans needed
Hi Guys
I've started fiddling, in preparation for some serious construction.
However...
A friend damaged his Ka-6 glider over Easter in a ground handling mishap
and has asked me to repair it.
It's only an aileron & fin / tailskid, so that should keep me busy for a week or 3
Hopefully I can get stuck in once that's out of the way
Cheers
