wing bolt torque

Hi

I am trying to find out what torque the wing bolts need to be at. Can sombody advise what this should be?
We're at the stage rigging AVTC. Very Happy

2Nuts- Torque:1.15-1.50KGM (100 to 140in lbs)

Yes my manual has the same figures.
Don't forget a coat of Duralac on the bolt shank.

Further to above -
The wing attachment bolts are inserted from underneath but if you have studs (threaded each end) then still insert them from the bottom to avoid scoring them in case of misalignment with the metal tube and holes drilled in the wing. In my experience you may need up to 4 AGS washers under the lower nuts to avoid the top nuts becoming threadlocked.

Looking to give my Nipper a good going over while she's snowed in and just wondering if it is require to check the wing bolt torque at any point? I know the manual says to just inspect for ovalling but was just wondering if there is anything airframe related that needs the torque checked periodically?

Anything else I should look for on the airframe to ensure integrity? I've been doing a lot of aero's recently (starting to get the hang of it finally!) and its always niggling in the back of my mind that I might be missing something I should be keeping an eye out for. I am of course always carefuly not to exceed the max G loadings, VNE etc.

Hi Des,

The wing is much like a prop', it swells during the damp periods, and shrinks when it drys out.......there is no harm in checking the bolt torque, it is even worth withdrawing them to inspect for corrosion.....my original ones that were in G-AZBA before restoration were red rusty and badly pitted (still makes me shiver). If you do fit them in the damp period it is worth retorquing in the summer when it has been dry for quite a while.

Look forward to seeing some aero's, we should get some Nippers together for an Aero' day!
